Punahou was pleased to welcome Alana DeJoseph, a documentary filmmaker and Peace Corps alumna, as part of the Davis Democracy Initiative speaker series. DeJoseph directed “A Towering Task: The Story of the Peace Corps” and brings over 40 years of experience in video and film production. She has engaged in various roles, including producer, director, videographer and editor, with a special focus on documentaries.
She is dedicated to dispelling myths about the Peace Corps and bringing the significant role of this long-standing American program for global peace into the spotlight. Between 2003 and 2013, she contributed as associate producer to the PBS documentaries “The Greatest Good,” about the U.S. Forest Service, and “Green Fire,” about conservationist Aldo Leopold.
During her visit, sponsored by the University of Hawaiʻi’s Better Tomorrow Speaker Series on Wednesday, Feb. 7, DeJoseph spoke with two Senior Capstone classes, sharing her extensive knowledge and insights. Additionally, a lunch for all faculty and Academy students featured a talk story session with her.
