Each year, the Punahou Alumni Association recognizes individuals who are dedicated to improving the lives of others through service and contribution to the communities of Punahou, Hawai‘i and beyond. Their achievements are an inspiration to the Punahou community.
Old School Award
This award is given to individuals who exemplify the spirit of Punahou through outstanding service to the school.
In 2017, when the Class of ’67 celebrated its 50th Reunion, Barb Young ’67 Morgan was at the front of a line of classmates waiting to walk into the Lū‘au tent. She proudly held her class banner, bobbing her head to the beat of the Oahu College Band and pumping her arm, eager to begin the festivities that she and her fellow Reunion committee members had been planning for so long.
Always and still a cheerleader, Morgan bleeds buff ’n blue. She epitomizes the spirit of Punahou.
The School is in her DNA, literally. Morgan is a descendant of missionary Sybil Bingham. Her parents Kenneth ’41 and Lydia Sutherland ’41 Young were both alumni, as are her siblings. She and husband Paul ’65 are the parents of Lydi ’97, Lucas ’00 and Keawe.
For 21 years, Morgan worked at Punahou, serving as senior director of legacy planning in her final role and leading the capital campaign for Case Middle School. Most recently, she helped lead her 50th Reunion committee.
