Beep, beep! It’s Takeout Tuesday, when we feature an alumni-owned restaurant in a video review. Let’s support these and other locally owned small businesses by ordering takeout.

MW Restaurant, owned by alumni and pastry chef Michelle Karr-Ueoka ’93, is open Sunday – Saturday, 11 a.m.– 7 p.m. Curbside pick-up is available at the restaurant, which is located at 1538 Kapiolani Blvd. Delivery is possible for orders of $50 or more, and delivery fees apply within 5 miles. You can phone in your order at (808) 955-6505, where they will ask for your order, credit card payment and your color, make, and model of the car you will use to pick up.
MW’s menu changes every couple of days and sources heavily from local farmers and producers with an emphasis on local comfort foods reimagined or redone with an interesting mix of flavors and styles. You can “make it a meal,” which adds a side salad and MW chocolate cake. MW’s menu is quite extensive beyond the specials, including items to warm up and eat later, family meal packs, a huge assortment of desserts (Michelle’s specialty, always get the ice cream sandwich), market items and alcoholic beverages.
Here’s what I ordered:
- Sweet and Sour Fried Ho Farms Eggplant (Mrs. Cheng’s Tofu)
- Cold Ginger Chicken (Ginger Scallion Peanut Relish)
- Grilled Big Glory Salmon (Ho Farms Misoyaki Eggplant)
- Nashville Hot Chick’n Sandwich with House-made Pickles
- “Cookies & Cream” Ice Cream Cup (House-made Oreo’s)
