At this year’s Schools of the Future Conference (SOTF), three Punahou students stepped into the role of teachers, leading an interactive session for educators from across Hawai‘i. Tahan Bapna ’27, Vincent Lau ’28 and Coco Heahlke ’28 presented “AI in Any Classroom: Student-led Activities You Can Run Tomorrow” on Thursday, Oct. 16, demonstrating how artificial intelligence can support learning in meaningful, responsible ways.
Facilitated by Robotics Director and Engineering Instructor Joe Baffoe, the session guided teachers through hands-on AI strategies using tools already available in schools. The students focused on how AI can personalize learning and enhance project-based assignments across subjects.
The students also discussed AI’s current limitations and stressed the importance of ethical use. Teachers left with practical classroom activities and a student-developed framework for integrating AI to support deeper learning.
The workshop highlighted Punahou School’s commitment to student-led innovation and the thoughtful use of emerging technologies in education.
