In 2022, Punahou will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of its glass blowing program, which was started by retired faculty Hugh Jenkins. A number of alumni, who served as glass TAs, have gone on to become successful glass artists, including Micheal Mortara ’79 of Hawai‘i Island, and Boyd Sugiki ’87 of Seattle, a well-known artist who teaches glass blowing classes across the world.
