In Alice Kimura’s first grade class, students made objects out of recycled materials designed to dance in the wind. Students explored such questions as what is wind, where does wind come from, and is all wind the same?
The project was inspired the students’ building, Keala’eli, named after the cool breeze that blows through Mānoa Valley. The lesson was part of a larger K – 1 Neighborhood study on sustainable features in and around the Neighborhood.
