Nature’s Lessons in (Bio) Diversity

Jessica Kelly’s fourth grade class began the new academic year with a community building activity. The students went to Barwick Field to observe the unique features of plants, animals and insects – and explored their symbiotic relationships. “We applied our understanding of nature to think about what that means for us within our classroom community, realizing just how important our differences are,” Kelly explains. “Each student drew a nature sketch to remind us of the importance of diversity.”
