Punahou Hosts Special Olympics Oʻahu Area Games

On Sunday, April 27, Punahou School was proud to host the Special Olympics Hawaiʻi Oʻahu Area Games, welcoming athletes, families, and supporters to campus. Organized by Special Olympics Hawaiʻi, the event brought together athletes competing in track and field, swimming, and powerlifting – each one demonstrating extraordinary perseverance and spirit.

Punahou faculty, staff, and student volunteers supported the day in a variety of roles, reflecting the School’s ongoing commitment to community, service, and inclusion. From timing races and cheering at the finish line to assisting with logistics and welcoming guests, volunteers helped create a warm and inclusive atmosphere for all.

Punahou Athletics contributed to the effort by helping coordinate competition venues and guiding visitors across campus. These contributions, alongside the tireless work of Special Olympics Hawaiʻi and many others, helped make the event a joyful celebration of athleticism, camaraderie, and shared purpose.

For the Punahou community, the Games were more than just a sporting event – they were a powerful reminder of resilience, inclusion, and the spirit of aloha.
