Way to go, clean-up crew! On a recent weekend, Taylor Hamilton ’09 and Lynn Kimura ’81 Kunishige’s Academy class helped prep the Onelauʻena Emergency Shelter in Kapolei for new occupants and got to know some of the residents, which made the service day even more impactful.
The class, “What Makes a Home,” is part of the senior capstone program, called Ke Kilohana, that centers around social responsibility. “The class has been truly amazing,” Hamilton said. “Students are having fun, working hard and learning how to collaborate and work as a team.”
Future class activities include delving into home design, volunteering with Habitat Honolulu on a construction site, and taking part in an urban plan simulation.
