Punahou Theatre’s fall production of She Kills Monsters, directed by Michael Ng, transported audiences into a world of imagination, humor and heart. The play by Qui Nguyen follows Agnes Evans, a young woman who discovers her late sister’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook and is drawn into an epic journey of courage, loss and connection.
Under Ng’s direction, the production blended dynamic action with emotional depth, showcasing strong performances from the student cast. The production’s imaginative world was further elevated by the extraordinary design work of Costume Designer Athena Keehu and Puppet Designer Anna Foster, who collaborated to create the largest number of puppets ever featured in a Punahou Theatre production. Keehu’s inventive costumes and Foster’s handcrafted creatures brought the fantasy to life with artistry, energy and creativity.
She Kills Monsters celebrated the spirit of collaboration and talent that defines Punahou Theatre, leaving audiences inspired by its blend of action, comedy and heartfelt storytelling.
