As Academy music teacher Darin Au ’90 put it, “If you’re looking for something fun and uplifting on a Friday, my Creative Music Studio students just posted their music videos from quarantine.”
Students were tasked to study famous pop duos in rock history, then work as a pop duo themselves to cover a famous song. After finding a partner, they created their own arrangement, performed and recorded it, then shot and edited the video entirely from their homes. They communicated via text, email and Webex to make it happen. “Limitations are a great driver of creativity,” Au said.
