Punahou School hosted a heartfelt gathering on Wednesday, June 4 to honor its older alumni during Alumni Week. This year’s Kūpuna Lūʻau saw an exciting change of venue, moving from the President’s Pavilion to Dole Hall, where more than 100 alumni from the Classes of 1945, 1950, 1955, and 1960 gathered with their guests for a day filled with joyful reunions, delicious Hawaiian food, and inspiring conversations about the School’s present and future.
Another highlight was the special archival display, including the Punahou School Hawaiian quilt that hung in Cooke Library. Guests also enjoyed browsing mementos such as Oahuan and Nā ʻOpio yearbooks and the infamous Paintbrush Trophy — a spirited symbol of the football rivalry between Roosevelt High School and Punahou that began in the late 1940s and lasted through the 1960s.
The Kūpuna Lūʻau provided a meaningful opportunity for alumni to reconnect with classmates, reflect on cherished memories, and create new ones in a setting rich with history and aloha.
Following President Latham’s remarks, guests enjoyed a traditional Hawaiian meal made by the Dole Hall staff.
