As part of Punahou’s first Hula Explorations course, Alex Picken ’22 (left) and Kensington Ono ’24 perform a hula noho ‘ulı‘ulı (seated feathered gourd dance) to “A Kilohana ‘O Ka Lani,” which commemorates Queen Emma’s hike to Kilohana on Kaua‘i in 1871. The dance and chant was originally taught by the late Aunty Nona Beamer as it was done in her family.
