The Punahou Music Department presented its Concerto Showcase 2021 on Friday, Feb. 26. The virtual concert presentation features five extraordinary soloists from the Class of 2021, and includes the music of Chaminade, Saint-Saëns, Schumann, Tchaikovsky and Walton, as well as special video vignettes with the young artists. During their interviews, the students highlight their personal musical journeys and perspectives on their repertoire.
The soloists are Stephanie Yoshida (violin); Mira Hu (cello); Sejin Park (flute); Sewon Park (viola); and Erin Nishi (violin).
Punahou’s annual concerto program serves as a culminating activity for seniors, honoring and showcasing their contributions to music at the School and providing inspiration to younger students. In past years, the selected soloists performed with the Punahou Symphony, but with pandemic protocols in place, this year’s concert is being presented virtually.
