Sophomores in the Global Sustainability by Design: Asian Studies class showcased their midterm projects during an exhibition in the Academy Learning Commons in December.
For their projects, students researched, developed and delivered a lesson on a historical conflict or crisis in Asia. Projects covered topics from typhoons and climate change in the Philippines to illegal land occupation in Myanmar, Turkey and Cyprus.
Throughout the yearlong interdisciplinary course, students delve into contemporary issues across Asia and explore the complex economic, political, geographic and cultural forces that influence them. Projects include crafting family narratives of migration and using the UN Sustainability Goals to develop an action-plan for a specific issue.
