Carnival week is here as many kindergarten and first grade classes experienced their own classroom “mini carnival” ahead of the 2026 Punahou Carnival: Welcome to the Jungle!
Students designed and built their own carnival games using cardboard, construction paper and paint, transforming their classrooms into colorful, student-created play spaces. The hands-on projects encouraged creativity, teamwork and problem-solving while introducing the youngest Buff ’n Blue to the traditions and excitement of Carnival.
Julia Saines ’27 and Carter Nobuhara ’27, this year’s Punahou Carnival co-chairs, stopped by one first grade class to bring even more excitement. The co-chairs interacted with the students and joined in the fun by playing the student-made games.
Here are some photos from several kindergarten and first grade mini carnival celebrations across the K – 1 Omidyar Neighborhood.
The Punahou Carnival returns Friday, Feb. 6, and Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026. We can’t wait to see you there!
