This spring, Punahou’s youngest learners welcomed back acclaimed children’s musician and author Emily Arrow for a joyful week of creativity and song. Working with kindergarten and first grade students, Arrow brought stories to life through music, blending literacy and performance in an engaging, hands-on experience.
During her visit, students gathered in the Omidyar Neighborhood for a lively mini concert, where Arrow performed selections inspired by beloved children’s books. Classrooms then transformed into songwriting studios as students collaborated with her to create original songs based on their favorite stories and themes.
Arrow’s return to campus builds on her previous visits, continuing a meaningful partnership that nurtures a love of reading, writing and artistic expression. Her work encourages students to see themselves as storytellers, showing that books can leap off the page and into song.
