Takeout Tuesdays: Kabuki Restaurant

Beep, beep! It’s Takeout Tuesday, when we feature alumni-owned restaurants and food establishments in a video review. Let’s support these and other locally owned small businesses by ordering takeout.

Kabuki Restaurant, located at 600 Kapiolani Boulevard, is owned and operated by Lacey Kazama ’99 Shimabukuro and her family for more than 30 years. This longtime Japanese restaurant serves up local comfort food, including appetizers, bento, sushi, teishoku and even shabu-shabu.

We ordered some ‘ono dishes:

  • Yu dofu
  • Agedashi tofu
  • Tempura udon
  • Nabeyake Udon
  • Assorted tempura teishoku includes rice, salad, tsukemono and miso soup
  • Misoyaki butterfish teishoku includes rice, salad, tsukemono and miso soup
  • Fried oyster teishoku includes rice, salad, tsukemono and miso soup

Kabuki Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner takeout, Monday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. and 5 – 9:15 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 1:45 and 5 – 8:45 p.m. To order, call 808.545-4995 or visit their website.
