Punahou welcomed back students, faculty and staff to campus on Oct. 13, the first time since March. It was definitely a happy homecoming, with students across the grade levels eager and excited to be reunited with classmates and teachers.
“We’ve been waiting for this moment and are so excited to finally be together again,” President Mike Latham ’86 said.
Junior School Principal Paris Priore-Kim ’76 said teachers have been working tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition back to campus. “Classrooms have been reconfigured, schedules revised and safety protocols put into place – all to support to the health and wellbeing of our school community,” she said.
Students and teachers are continuing to adjust to the new guidelines that are designed for safe, on-campus learning both in classrooms and outdoors.
“Everyone has contributed to make this possible, from our devoted faculty to our buildings and grounds crew and cafeteria workers, to our IT professionals, to those in the Health Center and countless others – each person going the extra mile to make sure our campus is reopened as safely as possible,” Academy Principal Emily McCarren said.
Since the summer, Punahou’s Pandemic Response Team has been preparing the campus for a safe return. For more information about the School’s safety and health guidelines, please visit the Health Response page.
