Girls Explore the Outdoors

In the Nā Wāhine i ka Nahele (Girls in the Wilderness) summer school class for grades 6 – 8, girls explored the great outdoors through on- and off-campus adventures designed for fun, service and exploration of O‘ahu.

Taught by Outdoor Education coordinator Shelby Ho ’01, the girls gained knowledge in sun, ocean and hiking safety, as well as met and worked with positive female role models. Activities included a hike to Waʻahila Ridge, canoe paddling, camping overnight at Rocky Hill, and gardening and meeting goats at a nearby faculty member’s home farm.
