Grade 2 ‘Festival of Lights’

Second graders delighted their families with a wonderful performance that honored the different ways the winter holidays are celebrated across the world.

Julie Crane-Cory, second grade dean, summed up the holiday sentiments in her closing remarks.

Second graders, we thank you for the gift of light you’ve shared with us today. Your meaningful stories from so many different traditions, your voices raised in song together, and your joyful dances have touched our hearts!

No matter how your family celebrates these holy days, or with candles on a menorah, or candles lighting the Kinara, or the advent wreath, or the candles of Diwali, or even Hawaiian Kukui, may the Festival of Lights we’ve experienced today, bless us all and invite us to practice our own holiday traditions with new meaning and with joy!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyful Kwanzaa, Happy Diwali, and Mele Kalikimaka!
