During the last school year, in the midst of a global pandemic, parent giving at Punahou skyrocketed to hit its highest-ever levels. More than 2,000 parents stepped up to contribute to the Punahou Fund and to the PunsUnited Fund, which assisted families facing financial challenges so their children could remain at Punahou.
Thanks to such generosity, no Punahou student had to leave the school for financial reasons related to COVID-19. A core of hard-working parent volunteers led the charge by extending challenge match funds and encouraging giving among other parents and donors. “Fundraising is one of the most challenging volunteer roles a parent can take on,” said Holly Paulson ’87 Sereni, Punahou’s senior director of development. “We have a dynamic, creative and passionate group of parents who find ways to make the work fun and positive. Punahou is deeply grateful for their selfless work for our community.”
