We asked Punahou faculty and staff, how did you spend your summer?
My wife and I went hiking in Interlaken, Switzerland, in June! We had a great time.
Joshua Hayashi, Chaplain
This summer, I led workshops on how to teach guitar in Anchorage and Honolulu. Case Middle School faculty Lauren Williams and Mia Amor Porecca joined me in Honolulu. Thanks to Taylor Guitars and the Guitar and Accessories Marketing Association for sponsoring!
Darin Au ’90, Academy Music faculty member
My family visited Portland, Maine, and went lobstering in Casco Bay.
Kirsten Spilker, director of Annual Giving
This summer, I competed in the Ironman 70.3, or half Ironman, in Kohala on Hawai‘i Island. It was a tough outing due to strong sustained winds during the swim, sustained winds and times of rain along the bike ride, and finally no wind and clouds during the run, only blistering sun! Calvin Lac was my support crew – providing bike and moral support – along with my daughter and wife.
Wyeth Collo, Academy Science faculty member
We spent part of the summer in Arizona and rode the train to the Grand Canyon.
Meilan Akaka ’04 Manfre, Case Middle School Growth Coach
ALOHA Collection brought me to Orlando to dance hula during the grand opening of their newest store in Disney Springs. I also had fun wandering around Disney World!
Kainalu Mercado-Spalding, Academy Ōlelo Hawai‘i faculty
