Alumni Week 2019: Alumni Lū‘au

It was a beautiful night under the tent for the 2019 Alumni Lū‘au. More than 2,000 alumni, friends and guests attended Saturday’s Lū‘au on Rice Field, celebrating classes ending in 4 or 9. Attendees flew in from across the country and beyond to reunite with classmates.

The festive entrance of the 50th Reunion Class of 1969 signaled the beginning of Lū‘au and the culmination of months of planning by Reunion committees. It was also Jim Scott’s ’70 last Alumni Week as Punahou president before he retires.

“At my last Lū‘au, my final act as president, I would like to extend my mahalo to a great faculty and staff, to 25 years of extraordinary students, and to the Punahou Board of Trustees for their leadership, support and encouragement,” Scott said. “Finally, I would like to say my mahalo to the Punahou Alumni Association for their support, generosity and thoughtfulness over the years. Mahalo, everybody, and a final aloha.”

The School looks forward to welcoming him back next year as he celebrates his 50th Reunion. It was also announced that alumni raised a collective $15 million to support the School’s initiatives.
