Seniors Collect Books for Early Readers

Members of the Academy Book Club collected over 400 children’s books for Books 4 Keiki, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting early literacy for Hawai‘i’s children. This is the club’s second book drive with Books 4 Keiki, and this year, they more than doubled their donations.

Organizers Safiya Rufino ’22 and Christie Chang ’22 enjoyed working with the nonprofit’s founders and learning about the organization. They also were inspired by their classmates’ willingness to help the cause.

“We hope that by sharing our passion for literature with others, the book drive we started last year will not only continue long after we graduate but grow to include the whole K – 12 Punahou community,” Rufino said.
