On Saturday, March 9, the PFA New Families Committee hosted Keiki Movie Mania featuring “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” It was a full house at Twigg-Smith Auditorium where families in kindergarten – grade 5 got to sit down together to watch Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and friends journey together through magical lands and battle King Bowser to save the Mushroom Kingdom. There were snacks! There were games! There were prizes! There was even a special appearance by King Bowser himself!
As the PFA New Families Committee Co-Chairs, we loved seeing all those who attended. It was rewarding to see families having a fun, relaxed time together. The success of this event is due to the participation of the fantastic Punahou families that come to the event as well as the volunteers from the PFA community. We understand that weekends can be a busy time for all, so we appreciate everyone who chose to spend their time with us.
Staying active in the PFA has been a rewarding experience. It’s fun, and it feels good too! It has helped us to meet new parents and families as well as reconnect with old friends. We love that being involved in the PFA has also kept us connected to the school, and it reminds us that we have a lot we can contribute to enrich our collective journeys through Punahou. Our kids see and hear us collaborating for the community, and we hope that this will inspire them to do the same when the outcome is so much fun! We encourage anyone thinking about wanting to support the Punahou school community to take an active role in the PFA through volunteering at an event or taking on a leadership role. As the PFA motto goes, “Many Hands One Community.” Please join us!
