Curiosity Leads the Way in Kindergarten

As part of Punahou Summer Programs, incoming kindergarten students spend their days exploring, creating and discovering through the Kindergarten Experience. Designed to ease the transition into school, the five-week program introduces the School’s youngest learners to the Omidyar K – 1 Neighborhood and the broader Punahou campus through hands-on, play-based learning.

Students investigate their surroundings through activities that integrate literacy, numeracy, art and imaginative play while building foundational skills in collaboration, communication and creative problem-solving. Guided by their natural curiosity, they ask questions, make observations and learn by exploring the world around them.

The summer program also helps students become familiar with campus routines and classroom experiences, providing a supportive environment where they gain confidence, develop friendships and begin their Punahou journey with a strong foundation for learning.
