Music, chant and hula filled the stage during this year’s Holokū Pageant, He Aloha Kuʻu One Hānau, presented by Punahou Academy students on Saturday, May 2.
Through student performances and storytelling, the program reflected themes of heritage, identity and connection to place while recognizing the enduring influence of Mary Kawena Pukui on Hawaiian culture and education at Punahou.
The evening also featured Tahitian performances and, in a historic first for Holokū, the representation of Tonga through traditional chants and dance. The Holokū Pageant Queen and court were also recognized with hula performances during the celebration.
Mahalo to the many hands that helped to put this beautiful pageant together!
