Less than a year after she swung her first racket, Tracy Kunichika ’81 won the Hawai’i Kai Junior’s 10-and-under title. In 1977, at 15 years old, she was the youngest player ever to be ranked No. 1 by the Hawaii Tennis Association. Tracy played Varsity tennis for Punahou, winning state singles for three consecutive years from 1979 to 1981. She was named Athlete of the Year and honored as a Scholar-Athlete in 1981.
After being offered tennis scholarships from a host of schools, tracy chose Harvard University, where she went on to play on the Women’s Varsity team from 1982-1984 in both singles and doubles.
