New Bulkhead at Punahou Pool

A new bulkhead was installed last week at the Elizabeth P. Waterhouse Memorial Pool for the first time in 37 years, with the support of the Waterhouse Charitable Trust.

The new bulkhead, made of fiberglass and weighing five tons, replaced the former concrete one, which weighed seven tons.

Installing the bulkhead was no simple feat. It required a crane and several construction workers to carefully maneuver the bulkhead into the pool, and position it exactly in place.
