Twenty-one Seniors Named 2023 National Merit Semifinalists

Congratulations to the 21 Punahou seniors selected as 2023 National Merit Semifinalists in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. They were among 57 Hawai‘i high school seniors selected in honor of their academic ability and potential for collegiate success.

Approximately 16,000 semifinalists are selected nationwide based on high-ranking qualifying test scores, which put them in the top 1% of high school seniors in the country. Students will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,250 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $30 million that will be offered next spring.
