The current trend is coastal cool! The newest Carnival Fabric and Wear uncovers that shore vibe with merchandise hitting the deck in plenty of time for our Coastal Carnival, Explore the Shore ’24!
Being a chair of the Carnival Shirts and Materials Booth comes with the perk of being one of the first to have eyes on the student-designed Carnival fabric and shirts. Spoiler Alert: Do not read this next sentence if you would prefer to be surprised by what colors are being used this year for the Carnival fabric. Everyone is excited to showcase our new designs, and fittingly, this year’s fabric is buff like the sand and blue like the sea.
Having participated as a Booth Chair and Shadow for Shirts and Materials six times, I can confidently say that this may be one of the most popular fabric designs yet! Sales will be intense this year, so don’t wait to get your gear. Thankfully, you have two opportunities to purchase your Carnival gear before the actual Carnival in February. Our first public sale will be on October 27 outside the PFA Office. The second opportunity will be at our Carnival Holiday Sale on December 1 outside Dole Cafeteria.
As a fairly new parent to Punahou many years ago, I volunteered at Carnival in an effort to show gratitude for the school’s commitment to financial aid, which my family benefits from. The unanticipated joys of working as a Carnival Booth Chair are abundant. I have a greater appreciation for the work that goes on behind the scenes, treasure relationships that have emerged, and have made connections beyond my children’s classroom families. I love the social aspect of “talking story” with old friends and some new as they shop the Booth, as well as those who volunteer to work the booth.
