Hall of Fame: Chris Woo (1976)

From Punahou to the 1976 Summer Olympics held in Montreal, Chris Woo ’76 is renowned for the state and world records he shattered. At Punahou, he was a member of the Varsity swim team all four years, winning 10 State Championship events and four team titles. He also broke five state records and two national high school records, and earned High School All-American honors all four years.

Following Punahou, Chris competed in the 1976 Olympic Games where he was a finalist in the 100-meter breaststroke and was a member of the world record-breaking 400-meter Medley Relay Team. From there he went on to a stellar collegiate career at Indiana University and in 2005 was inducted into the Hawai’i Swimming Hall of Fame.
