Punahou’s Co-Curricular Chess program delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Guy Ontai Hawai‘i K – 12 Scholastic Chess Championship on Saturday, Mar. 7, with approximately 70 students competing across multiple divisions.
Punahou earned first place in three of four divisions – Primary, Elementary and High School – and secured second place in the Intermediate Division, demonstrating the strength and depth of the program.
Team scores were determined by the top four players from each school in each division, highlighting the collective effort and skill of Punahou’s student competitors.
