The Clarence T.C. Ching PUEO (Partnerships in Unlimited Educational Opportunities) Program is in full swing this summer. Established in 2005 through a partnership with HIDOE, PUEO offers a variety of exciting educational activities for its scholars, from fourth grade and above.
Fourth graders enjoyed at day at Camp Palehua and also took part in Paniolo Day, learning about the life and culture of Hawaiian cowboys. Fifth graders learned water safety in the pool before boarding Punahou’s canoe, Kamaola, for some sailing simulations. Students in sixth and seventh grades enjoyed a special performance by award-winning ukulele musician Brittni Paiva.
Meanwhile, ninth graders visited the historic ‘Iolani Palace, while 10th graders took a look into the workings of government at the Hawai‘i State Legislature. Twelfth graders focused on college with trips to the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa and Kapiolani Community College, as well as a career fair and sessions with college admissions representatives from various universities.
What a wonderful summer of fun and learning for the PUEO scholars.
