Thirty alumni converged on a TriBeCa rooftop in New York City in late June for Punahou Alumni Association New York’s (PAANY) first young alumni event since the start of the COVID pandemic. Raffy Howe ’13 and Kory Johnson ’13 hatched the idea after recognizing the pent-up demand after years of social distancing.
“We remembered connecting with other alumni at prior PAANY Carnivals and Spam Musubi socials, and missed interacting with fellow alumni in New York City,” said Johnson.
Alumni included current college students working summer internships in the city to long-time residents of the Big Apple. “Hopefully as we move into a new normal, we can restart some of our signature events,” said Maile Dyer ’08, one of the region’s co-chairs. She continued, “New York is a popular college and young adult destination, and we really want to help connect alumni and make them feel welcome here.”
