The Academy Quad was abuzz with activity on Friday for the Punahou Multicultural Celebration, a vibrant display of the rich diversity within Punahou’s community. Attendees enjoyed cultural games, foods like mac and cheese, tres leches cake, and crêpes, along with interactive learning activities.
The event was hosted by Punahou clubs, including cultural and identity groups like the Black Student Union, Jewish Culture and SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Affirmation) clubs, as well as the Latin Hispanic Heritage, French, Filipino, Japanese Okinawan, TLC – Thai Lao, Polynesian, Chinese and Korean clubs.
“The students worked incredibly hard and had a great time sharing aspects of their culture with each other and with other students,” shared Cindy Murillo Fonseca, Academy Spanish language faculty member. She, along with Academy English faculty member Janelle Wells, Academy math faculty member Taylor Hamilton and students from the Shanti Alliance, organized the successful inaugural event.
