The Punahou School community showed its creativity and school spirit this fall through the inaugural Puns Sticker Design Challenge, organized by the Case Accelerator for Student Entrepreneurship in partnership with the school’s Communications and Admissions offices.
The all-school initiative invited students, faculty and staff to create original sticker designs celebrating the school and welcoming new and prospective students and families. The challenge drew nearly 250 submissions from participants across almost every grade level, with designs ranging from hand-drawn illustrations to polished digital artwork inspired by Punahou traditions, values and campus life. Some submitted their designs on their own, while some teachers had their entire class participate. Winning stickers were recently distributed to newly accepted families during Admissions Welcome Events or will be given out next school year to prospective families applying to Punahou.
The school congratulates this year’s winning artists: Brynn Okasaki ’29, Risa Togashi ’31, Jia Yun ’32 and Connor Yuen ’35.
Yolanda Lau, director of the Case Accelerator for Student Entrepreneurship, said, “This was so much bigger than stickers. Students thought about their audience, creating something that lasts, and how to make others feel welcome — all important aspects of the entrepreneurial mindset.”
The success of the challenge highlighted the creativity and enthusiasm of the Punahou community while also giving students an opportunity to explore entrepreneurship through design, branding and storytelling. Eunice Kim, K – 12 admissions coordinator, added, “It was meaningful to welcome families with authentic student designs capturing the warmth and creativity of the Punahou community.”
By creating stickers that would be shared with newly accepted families, participants were able to contribute to the school’s welcoming spirit in a meaningful and lasting way.
