More than 200 alumni golfers participated in the 34th Annual Punahou Alumni Association Golf Tournament at the Hawaii Prince Golf Club on March 4. Conditions allowed for a full tournament followed by the traditional awards banquet.
The grand prize team, from the Class of ’84, included Ronn Nozoe, Nalu Won and Chad Yim. Each player received a $150 Hawaiian Airlines gift card, a round of golf at Kā‘anapali Golf Courses and a bottle of Dassai 45 Junmai Daigingo sake.
Alec Henderson ’15 was the lucky winner of a custom Punahou Titleist Scotty Cameron style/Newport model putter from Paradise Putters when his name was drawn from participants of the putting contest.
The PAA Golf Tournament is a favorite of many alumni, with teams that often return year after year. Golfers show their buff ’n blue spirit with coordinated team attire and enjoy socializing with each other at the tees and at food and drink pit stops.
Refreshments were donated by Beer Lab (Kellie Kong ’02 Taguchi and Kailey Onizuka ’08 Wong) and Kona Brewing Company (Eric Chang ’93). Golfers also enjoyed breakfast bento from Zippy’s Restaurants (Jason Higa ’81) and smokey bbq from This Lil Piggy Slow-Smoked Grinds (Toma Turner ’94).
The PAA Golf Tournament is planned and operated by volunteers from the Punahou Alumni Association board and Hawai‘i chapter.
