Hall of Fame: Kenneth Cummings Ross (1926)

“Kammy” was a three-year letterman in football and track and a four-year letterman in swimming – ten letters in all – a remarkable achievement for a high school athlete. This article appears as originally published in the Summer 1981 issue of the Punahou Bulletin.

He was particularly outstanding in football where he gained renown for his drop-kicking ability. This ability resulted in his being the hero of Punahou’s 1924 championship team when he “educated toe” kicked critical field goals to win every game of the season. One field goal – against Kamehameha – was for 48 yards! In addition to his phenomenal kicking, Kammy is considered the outstanding high school lineman of the period 1920 – 1924. A guard, he captained the 1924 championship football team and won all-star honors.
