The upbeat trio Ke’olu – featuring Hi’ilani Asing ’12, Krystal Mokuahi and Cory Mau – delighted the Punahou Alumni Facebook audience with a wide-ranging song set during their July 17 virtual backyard concert.
Ke’olu played a list of classic hula music and Hawaiian songs, as well as a few from the ’70s and ’80s, including “Henehene Kou ‘Aka” and “Sweet Lahaina Night.” The concert, held on the Alumni House lanai, was cheerful and casual, with playful bantering between the trio and shoutouts to online viewers.
Ke’olu’s performance continues Punahou Alumni’s free, online concerts on Facebook. The Friday pau hana have become gathering spots for alumni near and far who enjoy Hawaiian music. Other featured alumni musicians have included Henry Kapono ’67, Pomaika’i Keawe ’99 Lyman, Wil Tafolo ’06, Nick La’a ’19 and Zack Uchima ’18.
