This year’s Academy Holokū Pageant and middle school May Day program theme was “E Mo‘olelo Kākou: our Mo‘olelo, our Kuleana.” The theme served as a reminder of the role that stories play in the transmission of knowledge from generation to generation.
The programs were a compilation of mele that are favorites among Punahou’s faculty and staff, and highlighted stories of leadership, place and love.
Students in kindergarten through grade 5 celebrated their greatest connection to one another: that they all share the same home. The theme, “Ku‘u Kulāiwi Aloha,” proudly honored Hawai‘i through stories and mele recounting the beauty of their beloved island home.
