The Punahou School community warmly welcomed the Class of 2030 into the Academy during the annual Kāikeoʻo Ceremony on May 27, celebrating the students’ transition from middle school into a new chapter of growth, responsibility and opportunity.

Rooted in Hawaiian tradition, Kāikeoʻo – meaning “to thrust toward maturity” – reflects the students’ movement forward into the Academy experience. Following their final chapel as eighth graders, the Class of 2030 walked to the Academy and gathered outside the Mary Kawena Pukui Learning Commons, where oli, mele and words of encouragement marked the occasion.

In a meaningful exchange, students offered “Lei Mānoa” to Academy faculty and staff, who responded with the Mele Komo written by Kimo Keaulana and Ke‘alohi Reppun, reinforcing the deep sense of connection and belonging that defines the Punahou community.

Mahalo to the faculty, staff, families and students who made this special tradition possible and helped create a memorable welcome for the newest members of the Academy.
